Walker: Bradley Center can raise its own money
Gov. Scott Walker says the Bradley Center, which is trying to find ways to generate additional revenue in support of its tenants, has the ability to raise money "on its own merits."
That's Walker's way of saying the Bradley Center shouldn't necessarily count on any kind of public support, especially in tight economic times.

Business leaders begin effort to help Bucks, Bradley Center
In the mid-1990s, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce launched an ambitious and costly campaign to show doubters that the Milwaukee Brewers were important to the local economy and the region's national image.
The group guaranteed that it would sell $6.15 million worth of tickets, lobbied the state to provide funding for what later became Miller Park, and lent the Brewers at least $14 million.
Last week, a small group of influential business leaders and the MMAC began talking in earnest about a more modest campaign to provide support for the Bradley Center and its biggest and most important tenant, the Milwaukee Bucks.

Marvin Fishman, who helped start Bucks in 1968, is dead at 84
Marvin Fishman, the real estate developer who brought the Milwaukee Bucks to town, died Friday night. Fishman, 84, of Milwaukee, was instrumental in raising the money to get the National Basketball Association franchise here in 1968, and three years later, the Bucks won the NBA title.

Bucks Team Up Against the Flu
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Commissioner of Health Bevan K. Baker have launched the annual citywide influenza awareness campaign entitled “Let’s Team Up Against the Flu!” by offering free seasonal flu shots to the public and unveiling a unique partnership to promote vaccination and good hygiene practices. The campaign, which will appear throughout the city, features Bucks guard Charlie Bell as part of a school poster expedition. Brewers Yovani Gallardo, Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks are also part of the citywide program.
